Jeff became a PGA member in 1993, making him and his father (Harold Dunovant) the first and only Black father and son PGA members. The duo also shares honor of being the first and only Black father and son “Quarter Century Members” of the PGA.
Currently Jeff serves as the Director of Golf Operations/Head Golf Professional for First Tee Metro Atlanta/John A. White Park Golf Course. Jeff also serves as the Chairman of the National Black Golf Hall of Fame. Jeff father Harold established the National Black Golf Hall of Fame in 1986. Since his father’s death in 2002 Jeff has continued his father’s legacy of the Hall of Fame.
Jeff has dedicated his career to Service to the Association and Junior golfers. He has served on both the Southwest and Georgia Sections Board of Directors a combined total of 10 years. He is currently serving on the National PGA Junior League golf Committee. He has been a National Trainer for First Tee for nine years.
Jeff has received many honors during his time as member of the PGA. He was named the Southwest Section Junior Golf Player Development Award winner in 2001. In 2012 he was the North Chapter and Georgia Sections Junior Golf Player Development Award winner, 2015 Georgia PGA Section Player Development Award , 2018 he was named the Merchandiser of the Year (Public Golf Course) in the Georgia Section, 2019 North Chapter Junior Golf Player Development Award winner and 2021 Georgia PGA Presidents Award winner.
He has been coaching the Drew Charter High School golf team since it started in 2015. In 2019 the Drew Charter High School boys’ team won Georgia High School State Golf Championship, becoming the first school in history to win a State Golf Championship with all black players and coaches in the country.
